Internet Is My Insulin

Well it’s taken about a month since resigning from my career to totally have no concept of time or date. Today could be a Monday, Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday. It’s really and truly become “all the same to me”. One thing I will note however is 2 days of the week are much more enjoyable than the rest, they are filled with friends during the day and cool stuff to do at night. The rest of the time people are going about their business expending energy to exchange it for stored energy and then sadly all too often wasting that stored energy on utter rubbish. I digress.

I woke up today and much to my chagrin there was no internet. I’ve been bottom feeding in the web world for the last few days to a week. In an apartment building there are lots of signals, most locked some not. I’m sure you can figure out the rest of this story. After a few hours of tossing and turning and trying to ignore the fact that I had no internet connection I finally cracked and now sit in some trendy coffee shop in downtown Victoria. I’m here for the wireless and should probably buy something as I’ve been here a while now. The internet is similar to insulin for me. One could say no, it’s not, you won’t die if you don’t get it. True true, however it is so inelastic to my lifestyle that I will do whatever it takes to get internet so as a result, I’m never without internet, got it?

Having quit caffeine roughly a month ago now I don’t even think of having a coffee when the dirty black tar like substance used to run game on my routine. I’d find myself driving for “more coffee” the moment my last XL ran out regardless if I wanted one or not. Dependence of that nature is disgusting and debilitating. Ok I’m exaggerating but I generally regard such needless and dirty substances with great disdain.

Not working or having a schedule, it’s really easy to waste an entire day away and I’m making an effort to avoid that. As a result today will be filled with this (internet cafe), a walk around downtown to see what’s popping and maybe make some dinner tonight. If I have one more pub meal I’m going to explode, don’t get me wrong Sheppard’s Pie is the shiz but you can only have so much of a good thing before it becomes “old hat” if you will.

I booked everything I needed too for my Vegas trip yesterday except a ticket from Vegas. That’s developing at the time of this writing and as you’re all aware, I enjoy keeping my options open.

On a side note, if you want to stop having a boring life… If you smoke a pack a day and drink ~2 coffees a day you can quit both and instantly save $450 a month. Just saying and what’s even funnier, that’s the exact cost for a fully furnished place in Bangkok, hmmm makes you think, yes?
