Still Working from Home? These 4 Tools Will Make Your Life Easier

Since 2020, so many of us have been forced to change our way of living. While we thought that after a while, everything would go back to normal, many of us are still working from home with no perception of if or when that might change.

What’s challenging about this is that many people have still not fully adjusted to this way of working due to their underlying expectations that they’ll go back to the office one day.

If this sounds like you, you’re stunting your own growth, productivity, and overall comfort in your work environment. Keep reading to lean about four tools you can lean into to make your WFH life a little easier and more comfortable.

Extra Screens

If you work a desk job and spend 80% of your day starting at your laptop screen, it might be time to make that two screens instead. This might sound like unnecessary money spent, but most desk workers have reported that two monitors are better than one, and once you’ve made the switch you’ll never be able to go back.

Having an extra screen (or even two) can help speed up your work and boost productivity by eliminating the need to constantly switch between tabs and windows, and allowing you to read and work with multiple documents at once.

Audio and Visual Aids

Trying to get work done in your home environment, where there might be an endless flow of distractions, can be pretty tough. Try to support yourself in whichever ways you can. First of all, improve your focus with blue light glasses which will be a life saver on your eyes – the reduced strain will allow you to focus for longer and this is a tip that can follow you back to the office one day!

Next, invest in (and use) noise-cancelling headphones when you need to get stuck into deep work and don’t want to be disturbed. This will block out distracting sounds, and you can alert other household members that when your headphones are on you are not to be disturbed at any cost.

Ergonomic Office Furniture

Comfort will contribute more to your overall productivity than you might think. If you’ve spent the last three years sitting at your kitchen or dining table with little to no proper back support, it might be time to invest in a proper office set up.

And an adjustable height desk is a must when you find yourself sitting for twelve hours a day, and an ergonomic desk chair is crucial for those hours when you do have to be firmly planted on your behind.

A Walking Pad

Finally, working from home often leads to getting stuck in your own four walls for days on end, and rarely leaving the house. While this can be isolating and unhealthy, it’s an unfortunate reality for many WFH employees.

To combat your sedentary behaviour, an under-desk treadmill will be the perfect partner for your adjustable desk. This will allow you to move more throughout your work day, get in your steps, and keep your body moving.
