Tips for Planning A Perfect Valentine’s Day
With Christmas over and done with and January in full swing, now is a good time to start planning Valentine’s Day, if you plan on celebrating it!
Valentine’s Day, originally a day for celebrating love between couples has now become much more, with #galentinesday having over a million tags on Instagram. It is no longer just about being in a relationship, but the perfect opportunity to show love to all the special people in your life.

Here are some top tips for planning a fun day to remember:
Fail to prepare, prepare to fail
Similar to any other occasion, it is best to prepare in advance to pull off the best day possible. If you are planning on dining out or even taking part in a fun Valentine’s activity, be sure to book ahead of time as it will be busier than usual, and you don’t want to miss out due to lack of organisation.
Take it personal
There are fewer holidays that present a better opportunity to really show how much you care about someone, and there is no better way than adding some personalisation into the mix. This is a great way to show people how much you appreciate them by putting in that extra bit of effort.
This could be anything from gifting your partner some jewellery that is engraved with a date that is personal to you both, to sharing personalised valentines cards with friends.
Another way to add a personal touch is by incorporating people’s favourite things into the celebration, such as visiting their favourite restaurant for a nice meal or buying their favourite snacks for a cosy night in.
Make it an all-day affair
Many people see Valentine’s Day as unnecessary, but like any other celebration, it is what you make it so why not embrace it and enjoy it?
A good way to do this is to celebrate all day long rather than just during the evening. This doesn’t mean you need to take the day off work or even clear your calendar, but with clever planning, you can enjoy the day to the fullest.
You could start with a Valentine’s breakfast before work, followed by exchanging of cards.
It is worth noting that Valentine’s Day is on a Tuesday this year and so you may want to celebrate on the weekend before or after if you plan on going all out.
Remove pressure
Particularly in the age of Instagram, Valentine’s Day can come with a lot of pressure. Seeing a swarm of large bouquets and lavish dinners online can make it seem like that is what you need to do to express your love for someone.
Try to not less this affect your planning; think about what you and whoever you are spending the day with are going to really enjoy and focus on that above anything else.
