The castle was built by Boyce Gulley. When he found out he had a serious illness, he set about making a home for his daughter. His building materials included strange items like automobile parts, goat’s milk, and telephone poles.
When he passed in 1945, the home passed to his daughter who lived there until 2010. The tours she gave continued after her death and you can visit the castle from October to May.
4. Experience the Desert Botanical Garden
This 140-acre garden in the desert is a real treat for those who love to take in the flora and fauna. You can take after-dark tours by flashlight as well, to experience the nightlife of this great section of desert. Visit after thanksgiving for Las Noches de las Luminarias where the pathways get decorated with beautiful lights.
5. Hit the Trails
