C? Chi Tunnels

If you are looking for a fascinating experience, you will not regret visiting the C? Chi Tunnels. The extensive tunnel network stretches for over 250 kilometers. This destination gives a unique insight into the country’s modern military history. These tunnels allowed VC troops to communicate and operate in various areas surrounding Ho Chi Minh City stealthily. You can take things up a notch by exploring two short sections of the network, into the narrow unlit confines. These areas are guided, and you will have to crawl on your hands and knees at some point during the journey. Just make sure you do not have claustrophobia. C? Chi Tunnels can be accessed via Ben Duoc village or Ben Dinh village (the popular choice).

Hoi An

The is one of the most atmospheric cities in Vietnam. Featuring historic architecture, the old town quarter is an absolute joy to explore. The town was once a major meeting point for Chinese and Japanese merchants. Hence, you can see well-preserved merchant houses that date back to the city’s trading center heyday of the 15th century. Plenty of these houses have been opened to the public, including the 17th-century Tan Ky House. You can get a taste of these times and appreciate the fascinating decorative and architectural elements that come with them.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park

This is an excellent caving destination. Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is world-heritage listed and is a dramatic karst mountain formation that is honeycombed with huge caverns. The stalactite and stalagmite display here are nothing short of spectacular. One of the most popular destinations within the park is the Paradise Cave.

It extends more than 30 kilometers below ground. Another popular excursion is a visit to the Tu Lan Cave. Also known as a wet cave, a visit here includes swimming through the cave system’s river. Now, that’s an experience you can’t get from anywhere else.
