Goodbye Sihanoukville, Hello Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Wow, what happened, where am I?
Ok, I know exactly what happened and exactly where I am. I’m in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Last night was equally if not more egregious than any other night I can ever remember. When we woke up this morning, my friend who I am traveling with quipped “I need to get out of here” and then changed his flight and is bouncing tomorrow. This lifestyle isn’t for everyone, ya hear?
In the span of about 10 minutes, we cleaned our now disgusting guest room and headed for the bus. The bus wasn’t so bad, can’t believe I left Sihanoukville, I LOVE THAT PLACE. I will be back but if not I’d just get stuck there, forever. I was even looking at property. As I said, in 3-5 years, I believe that place will be very well known, it’s a slice of heaven.
It’s weird, when you don’t update all the time, updating feels like a pain in the a$$ when previously, it was natural. Tomorrow, I’m back to being solo which is different but also good. I’ll be “back to my routine” whatever that means.
I need a visa for Vietnam, that or go back to Bangkok, JUST KIDDING.
I could write a book about the debauchery of $0.50 beers and room rates so cheap you could stay there, forever. Also, the more “out there” you go, the more “out there” the other guests are, if that makes sense. Weird lot, loved it. Every night was like going to a circus, it was madness, truly egregious.
I’m sweating like I’m in some sauna right now, also this place is pretty rugged, dirt / rock roads everywhere… No street lights, nothing. Hmmm maybe I should go back to Sihanoukville, get a visa and then come back. It’s hilarious how a 3-6 hour bus ride is now like “no big deal”, previously, going to Montreal 1.5 hours was like “no way, too far”.
As much as I love Asia, looking forward to slowly moving into other parts of the world, to see how they tick or whatever.
This connection sucks, so does the keyboard and did I mention it’s so hot here, you’d believe you were in Hades, if you buy into that crap.
Peace,
P.S This connection is so slow, I just wrote this in notepad while waiting to login, Sihanoukville had better internet.
