Caru Cu Bere Restaurant in Bucharest, Romania

Yesterday was beyond random in the best way possible. Through the powers of twitter, chatted with @BitDefender and ended up visiting their world headquarters and joining them for dinner at Caru Cu Bere Restaurant in Bucharest, Romania. This place is class and most certainly worth visiting if you’re visiting or living in Bucharest.

After a long walk around town, wrote a tweet saying I bought a shawarma in Bucharest that was too large and I was feeling ill, @Kidha, their social media coordinator invited me to come visit the Bit Defender Headquarters, indeed. Naturally, I took them up on the offer immediately.

Made my way over there and talked about spam, malaware, fishing and some cool new blogging tools that they have been developing over the last few months. It was a good time, upon leaving they asked what I was doing for dinner and I got a private message on twitter stating a table had been reserved at Caru Cu Bere Restaurant for 8PM, indeed.

The moment I got there, I was like “this is my type of place”. It’s located in the historic district and one of the most well known restaurants in Bucharest, if not Romania. It was established in 1879 and was a church before than, one believes. I was overwhelmed by the menu, trying many foods is the way to develop a sophisticated palate. The venue so Ligia ordered me some very traditional Romanian food, it was delicious.

Simply put, Ca Cu Bere is a class establishment, the kind of place that has photos lining the walls to the wine cellar with most Romanian celebrities. If you’re in Bucharest and looking for an authentic experience, this is probably the place you should visit. In fact, the entire “Old Town” is pretty awesome.

Thanks to @Bitdefender & @Kidha for getting in touch with me, if someone had told me that I’d be enjoying dinner at that great restaurant with even better company a few days earlier I’d of quipped “I like you, but you’re crazy”. Speaking of crazy, met another Tudor last night, his name is Robert Tudor and at first I thought “wow, another magician”, the guy blew my freaking mind. I was left looking as though I had come out of a 5 year coma with mild brain damage.

After dinner had a pint with one of the gents from the party, it was most delicious. Spent the morning doing web work, boring; I will spare you details. Staying here tonight, perhaps tomorrow night then Sophia or Belgrade. Full update with countless photos of Bucharest tomorrow, this place is beautiful.
