If you find yourself in the Big Apple this holiday season, you need to grab yourself tickets to this live performance Christmas show: Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes. This show has been a New York annual Christmas tradition since 1933.

This musical show features the amazing precision dancers of the Rockettes, an all-women dance group. They are famous for their kick lines, where dancers line up in formation and dance and kick in a synchronized fashion.

You can check their calendar for available tickets for upcoming Christmas Spectacular shows. You can even snag tickets for Christmas Eve if you wanted.

2. The Nutcracker

You’ve definitely seen one of these decorative nutcrackers around town during the holiday season. There’s a lot more history to these

Did you know, The Nutcracker is an old two-act ballet by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, first performed in St. Petersburg, Russia in December 1892? This ballet has become synonymous with Christmas time and the holiday spirit because the first act of the ballet takes place during a Christmas party.

3. Twas the Night Before Christmas

This 1974 animated Christmas movie is a favorite holiday cartoon for many. It starts and ends with the famous poem, Twas the Night Before Christmas, and launches into a story about a small town of human and mouse citizens, that loses favor with Santa because of an anonymous letter from someone within the town.

You’ll also find yourself singing and humming along to the catchy tunes in this show. Check it out!

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Don’t know what to watch? Try this Christmas classic.

Based on Dr. Seuss’ book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, this show features a villainous AND grouchy Grinch that aims to ruin Christmas for everyone in Whoville, by stealing Christmas gifts on Christmas Eve. Follow along with this green-hating Santa on his devilish plans to ruin the Christmas holiday!

5. Peoria to Lebanon

While this show is not like the other Christmas classics on this list, this show is an exemplar of what the holiday season is really about: giving back.

Commemorating the lives lost during the warehouse explosion in Beirut, Lebanon in 2020, which also left 300,000 civilians homeless, this show features music by Lebanese classical pianist Dr. Tony Karam, and art for sale, donated by Lebanon artists.

Proceeds generated from this event will go towards Lebanon’s relief efforts.
