Dinner on Rainbow Street in Amman, Jordan

Last week I was in Jordan for the second time and I decided to do things a little differently… I’ve been writing this blog for a few years now and as much fun as it is, I decided I wanted to bring you along for a different type of journey; a more visual one. Today’s update is about dinner at Rainbow Street in Amman, Jordan and directly below this paragraph you can see a video I made which brings you along for the whole thing…

This video starts as I leave the airport because I not only want to show you what dinner is like on Rainbow Street in Amman but also what Amman is like, what the vibe of being there feels like as much as you can until you visit yourself. Last time I was in Jordan, we drove by Rainbow Street and I never really got a chance to see what it was all about but glad that all changed this time. I have a few Jordanian friends and when I told them I was going to Jordan; they all said I need to check out Rainbow Street while in Amman.

Rainbow Street is a happening place filled with restaurants, trendy shops, shisa spots and the like. One thing I will note is that we didn’t go to one of the restaurants which was mentioned from my friends so I’m quite keen to return as the one we went to was incredible. Myself and friends were all hungry after our flights and this meal really hit the spot. There were so many dishes I can’t even fathom trying to remember them all, let alone type them here. We went to Sufra Restaurant and I’d go back again without hesitation anytime I’m back in Amman.

That said, there were the regular suspects such as hummus, tabbouleh, baba ganoush(love that stuff), an awesome assortment of meats and much, much more. I also tried some chicken liver and what I believe to be lamb spleen. I’ve had chicken livers before but the spleen blew my mind to the tune of I personally finished off a quarter of the dish for my part of the table. It reminds me of when I had some chicken necks a few months ago hesitantly before going back for seconds and thirds.

We were all exhausted having just arrived but as we left we saw plenty of people enjoying shisha and the cool evening breeze. One thing is certain, I’d like to spend more time on Rainbow Street in Amman next time I’m in Jordan. If you find yourself visiting the country to see some of the sights; this is one of the places I highly suggest you look into for an evening spent in Amman. Also, be sure to try the lemon mint drink; but be warned that it’s highly addictive…
