Places to Visit on the Sunshine Coast 2020

Discover the most interesting Sunshine Coast attractions this year. Head into nature or head out into the city; there’s plenty to see and do on Queensland’s sparkling coastline. Plan ahead and discover amazing experiences to enjoy with your family and friends on RedBalloon.

Glass House Mountains

The Glass House Mountains are made up of a cluster of 13 hills, sprouting up from the ground, the highest one standing at 556 metres above sea level. The Queensland and National Heritage Register-listed mountains tower over the nearby landscape.

There are several trails and hikes up and down the mountains. It’s one of the best things to do on the Sunshine Coast if you like getting active and taking in wonderous views.

Gardners Falls

In the Sunshine Coast hinterland is the hidden gem that is Gardners Falls. Drive to the car park at the bank of Obi Obi Creek and head out on foot downstream to the falls. On the way to the falls you can stop at the many smaller rockpools that are perfect for younger visitors to splash about in.

The easy-to-do, approximately 15-minute walk will take you to a large, open pool that the falls feed into—perfect for swimming in a natural space. Bring a picnic along and make a day out of it.

Hastings Street

Locals and tourists flock to Hastings Street, the heart of Noosa Heads. Casual cafés and award-winning restaurants are found in Hastings Street, as well as gift shops, surf shops, galleries, and more. Discover local gems and find that special something you never even knew you needed, or just that perfect memento to take home. Grab an ice cream cone and wander towards the beach to watch the stunning sunset.

Rick’s Garage

A meal at Rick’s is a one-of-a-kind experience. The diner is styled like 1950s Australia, full of iconography of the time including hot rods and rockabilly music. Enjoy a classic burger, fries, and a shake with the vibrant atmosphere and family entertainment.

The diner is home to live music from Thursday to Sunday to complete the retro experience. If you’re a fan of whiskey, enjoy a tipple from Rick’s Whiskey Bar to finish off your evening with a night cap.

Local Nightlife

Sampling the local bars and clubs isn’t up everyone’s street, but for those night owls, there’s plenty to enjoy. Discover the bars and pubs by Mooloolaba Beach or along Ocean Street by Maroochy River. Just note that the nightlife here is more laidback than the glitter and glam scene on the Gold Coast.

With so much to see and do, make your experience more enriching with things to do on the Sunshine Coast by RedBalloon.
