7 Incredible Reasons for Moving to Miami

Have you been feeling the urge to uproot your life and move somewhere new? Planning a move is stressful, but if you find the perfect new home, it might be one of the best things that you can do for yourself.

Have you considered moving to Miami?

Miami, Florida is a beach city with plenty of things to do, but the Miami lifestyle isn’t for everyone. Read on to learn all about the top reasons that we love Miami (and why you might love it too).

Moving to Miami may be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. Learn more right here about why you should call Miami home.

1. The Weather

The top reason that anyone considers living in Miami is the weather. If you love fun in the sun, and the heat doesn’t bother you, Miami is the place to be.

Not everyone is cut out for the humidity that comes alongside the Miami lifestyle, but for those of you that love the idea of lounging like a lizard on a warm rock, it’s going to be a perfect fit.

Plenty of people move to Florida after they retire because the weather is to die for. You can go to the beach throughout most of the year and it’s always a good time to go for a walk.

Leave your heavy coats behind and get outdoors.

2. The Nightlife

Most people may know Miami as a party city, and they’re not wrong. When it comes to nightlife, Miami is hard to beat. While it may not be the best fit for small families or anyone who’s underage, it’s great for young adults and older adults alike who love to hit the town for a night out.

Downtown Miami is full of nightclubs, bars, and the occasional festival. It’s a thriving scene for singles looking to get into the dating world or couples who love a good date night.

If you’re not sure what to do on a balmy weekend night, all you have to do is take a few steps downtown and see what you happen upon first. You won’t be bored for long. There are opportunities for fun at all hours.

3. Good Public Transportation

Speaking of getting downtown for a night of fun, you’re going to need good public transportation if you want to stay safe. Lucky for you, Miami has a reliable public transportation system that can get you from point A to point B in no time.

It’s no secret that Miami traffic is a pain. Driving around, especially during peak hours, isn’t something that most people want to waste their time with.

You can take one of Miami’s reliable buses, their Metrorail, or their free Metromover that circulates downtown (for free as of now!).

Yes, you may have to struggle through the occasional traffic jam when you’re on the way to and from work, but if you time it right, the public transportation options will remove a lot of the struggle.

4. Great Food

Are you a foodie? Miami might be your new favorite place.

Sure, you can get classic Americana food anywhere in the area, but you also have access to plenty of foods from other countries. Cuban food, for example, is available in no short supply.

You can get Haitian food, Mexican food, amazing Greek food, and so much more.

Are you looking for a few hidden gems? Wander off of the beaten path into some of the less “touristy” areas of Miami. You’ll find hole-in-the-wall restaurants and classic cafes.

Bonus: many tropical fruits are affordable (ish) in Miami. If you love mangoes and avocados, you’re in luck.

5. A City: Not a Tourist Trap

One of the biggest problems that a lot of “beach towns” have when it comes to the people who live there is that they’re tourist-oriented. When tourist season is over, there’s not much to do. The town goes dormant.

Locals in those towns often struggle to find good work, socialize in non-bar-related ways, and even enjoy the touristy things that make their homes special.

In Miami, this isn’t a problem. Yes, there are plenty of things for tourists to do and the city spends a lot of money on tourism, but it’s also a real city. Plus, if you decide to move to a Miami Beach condo, you can stay close to the action without being bombarded by tourists. These affordable condos offer the best of both worlds – close to the attractions but far enough away from the hustle and bustle.

Residents have no shortage of work opportunities and activities year-round. There doesn’t need to be a festival or event going on for the city to be fun and vibrant.

6. Low Taxes

Let’s talk money. One reason that anyone would be looking at these listings and considering a move to Miami is money. Miami isn’t cheap when it comes to housing, but Florida’s state income tax is nonexistent. That should lower your overall costs a good deal.

Anyone who’s lived in a “no income tax” area knows how much easier tax season is. Even that small percentage makes a big difference.

Sales tax is also only 7% in Florida so you can keep a bit of extra money in your pocket after a shopping trip.

7. Proximity to Orlando

So what happens if you get bored of basking in the sun or going out late at night? What do you do when you want a weekend or even a full week out of town?

While you won’t be taking any day trips to Orlando (unless you’re waking up early and getting home late), you can easily make a quick weekend trip to go see the sights.

This is great if you have young children or if you’re just young at heart. Take a trip to Disney World or Universal Studios. There’s no shortage of things to do in Orlando for all ages.

You can easily drive there so you don’t have to pay for flights and you can get special deals on tickets as a Florida resident.
