The Mission Back & Mulling About in Managua, Nicaragua

Greetings,

I’m back in Managua eating breakfast in bed at a friend’s house because his wife is that cool.  I’ll be tagging along with a friend doing this and that until I bounce back to the Corn Islands this afternoon on the 2pm flight. I am excited to go back as I have some unfinished business and this trip served as a great way to “clear my head” so to speak. My resolve is strong and my mission is clear, now all I need to do is hold the wheel and steer.

Yesterday I almost made the biggest travel mistake of my life. So I told you about my shopping spree, right? Imagine packing it all ever so tightly into a large suitcase that was colored black and not brightly. Stepping onto the rental car shuttle and when exiting, forgetting such said bag!! I grabbed my fishing rods in their carry case like it was all that mattered in the world.

Luckily, I had been chatting and laughing with the only other gent on the shuttle and he stopped the driver and I got my bag. I’ve never done that before in all my years of travel and sure enough forget it when it’s got the most bounty. Let this be a reminder to keep your mind on your stuff, it doesn’t matter how much you travel as these things can happen to anyone, I think?

Moral of the story: Talk to people, had I been antisocial I’d now be without my stuff…

The trip back was smooth, switched seats so this couple could sit together. I ended up having a great convo with a gentleman from Spain, who works for the UN in Managua. It sounded like a cool job and almost asked if they were hiring when I remembered I’m fiercely independent and as a result, that would never work for me long term.

This photo is the best one I got from the plane and it still sucks.

Have a slick Saturday.

Tips hat,
