Shipwrecked With Slow Internet on Little Corn Island

Figured I had better check in to let you know I still have a pulse. Crazy how some places you just don’t write much because there are better things to do and the internet sucks. The weather has been fantastic here and I’ve been on a fishing binge along with some old and new friends, what else is new? I’ve got some plans in the works and waiting for them to solidify, at which time we’ll discuss them further.

Just to catch up here is a list of things I’d like to remember and as a result, mention now. The 20lbs nurse shark caught on a small jack after waiting 8 hours. Thought I had a rock, left for snorkel equipment and when I came back, friend was fighting the shark. The bait put up a bigger fight than the prize which I walked like a dog on a leash around the seawall to the beach. We grabbed its tail, it did a spin and the hook the size of a gaff just popped out, perfection. Other things of note occurred but the memory escapes me

I’ve been doing lots of walking and finding new paths / shortcuts, lots. There are no motorized vehicles here and as a result this small island is actually quite big. I’ve also been hanging out at beach spots with lines in the water, caring not if a bite occurs simply because it’s not a bad place to spend some time. On the topic of spending time, due to these new developments, I’ve changed my ticket and staying here until mid-May.

I’m quite alright with that and something I love about this place is the air quality, you’d be tough to find a place with cleaner air that also has this much development. At times one could say the satellite signal is slow and the power is irregular but when you realize where you are and what type of place this is, it’s quite marvelous just how much progress has been made.

If you’ve got the time and access, I recommend watching sunrise and sunset as often as you can. It’s like the world’s oldest television show that has NEVER had a re-run. Every episode starts and ends with a similar ritual but is completely unique like every flake of snow ever dropped or … If you think a lot of people watch the Super Bowl, you should assume the stats on this show.

Easter is coming and that’s the busiest time of year here, indeed.

In closing, the new ferry service is full swing and costs same price as a panga, solid.

I’m hooked on fishing and living in the Caribbean.

P.S: This beach spot is pretty cool, go out on the rocks and fish the sandy bottoms.
