Lazy Days and Late Nights on Little Corn Island
Greetings,
It’s a sunny Sunday and I feel so I alive I’d like to go for a boat ride, yeah a long late night drive but enough of that. Today we’ll discuss the important matter of going island style on “island time” and enjoying lazy days on beaches best described as breezy and late nights dancing in a reggae bar as real and raw as you’ll find anywhere. I sorta lay low most of the time here but when you’re in the mood to make a go at things, Little Corn Island has what you need.
It’s taken me near 7 months to figure it out but during the day, you wanna be in some hammock along the east coast. The breeze just doesn’t stop which could get old but when you’re boiling it’s bliss. Lots of places to choose from but my favourite is Full Moon Restaurant aka Joanna’s Place aka the first place on the beach when you’re walking there along the main road from town. Lots of hammocks and a really relaxed vibe; great place to chill out and have a few mid day beverages if one so desires.
From there you have lots of options when it comes to getting a good meal. The two spots I frequent most are Tranquilo and Desideri. At Tranquilo the only thing I ever see on the menu for dinner is fish tacos, I can’t get enough of them. At Desideri I often order the lobster thermidor which came highly recommended by Barracuda Breene and believe it to be one of the top dishes I’ve tried on the island or anywhere.
At times there are BBQ’s on the beach side which can always turn out to be alright. On any big night everyone ends up at Happy Hut or Aguillas aka The Reggae Bar. Happy Hut isn’t open that often but when it does open, it usually goes off if the right type of people are on the island. The joke is you’re happy the night you attend at you “hut” like hurt the next day. Aguillas is this sizable reggae bar on the sea where everything you can imagine takes place and more.
Last night went off and encompassed all of the above and ended at the Reggae Bar. I love it when you stroll in there on a roll to find everyone who still wants to have fun feeding off each others energy. The music is blaring and the place is just busy. The dance floor is often packed and where most participants spend their time deep in the art of grinding. Oh yeah, as it happens the island is at capacity again and we’re in May; that kinda blows my mind.
Anyways there you have it and with that wet blanket called winter out of the way, looking forward to migrating north…
Tips hat,
P.S: Photo is from Full Moon Restaurant on the beach and beers are about a buck.
