Green Global Certified: What Does It Mean for Hotels?

According to Booking.com, 56% of travelers are now seeking off-the-beaten-path experiences.

Due to over-tourism and climate change, tourists around the globe are hoping to reduce the damage caused to cities, cultures, and nature by traveling sustainably.

The Green Globe organization is crucial for helping tourists travel sustainably. It was formed in 1992 and is now the world’s leading sustainable certificate. When tourists visit green hotels, they can be confident to know they’re staying somewhere that cares about the environment.

One eco-friendly business part of the green hotel programs is Front Range Anglers. Their top-class fishing trips at Christmas Island make them worthy holders of the green certificate.

About Christmas Island

Christmas Island is a haven for environmentalists and fishing enthusiasts.

The small island with just 7400 inhabitants is situated in the North Pacific Ocean. Because of its location, it has a year-round hot tropical climate. The island has a year-round average temperature of 81.5°F, with the rainy season taking place from December – April.

The island itself has a lush green landscape surrounded by crystal clear waters.

Although there are some small hotels and dining outlets, there is little tourism infrastructure. Because of this, Christmas Island has not fallen victim to over-tourism and managed to keep its charming rustic vibe.

The Fishing Trip

In 2019, anglers in the U.S made over 187 million fishing trips. That’s why the Front Range Anglers trip is so desirable.

The island is famed for its saltwater fishing, particularly its bonefish. Experienced anglers are reported to catch up to 100 bonefish a week!

Most of the fishing is done in the flats dotted around the island. Because of their round shape, they were given the nickname ‘pancake flats.’ The flats are filled with coral, making them the perfect place to go fishing.

This is what you can expect from a typical day:

  • 6:00 AM: Wake up
  • 6:30 AM: Breakfast
  • 7:00 AM: Leave for the flats
  • 8:00 AM- 4:30 PM: Fishing
  • 5:30 PM: Back at the lodge
  • 7:00 PM: Dinner

Whether you’re relaxing, admiring the landscape, or catching your first fish, it’s all a rewarding experience.

During the daytime, you can sit out in the covered dining and lounge area and enjoy a local delicacy straight from the surrounding sea.

The main marina is conveniently located just 5 minutes from the property.

Sustainable Tourism

Travel has become one of the most popular trends of the 21st century. It was estimated that 1.4 million tourists traveled in 2019.

Because of this, popular tourist destinations such as Barcelona and the Grand Canyon National Park are suffering from over-tourism. It affects social and environmental factors in a region.

A region can suffer environmentally from increased waste such as litter and air pollution. A negative social issue is how the quality of life decreases for locals as the price of food and drink increases.

The Green Certifications are here to stop these issues. It’s reported that those in the green hotel program reduce utility usage by 10%

The Front Range Anglers are green global certified. So, taking part in this trip means you will not be contributing to social and environmental factors impacting some regions.
