Ehhh from Hotel in Tanga
So, my laptop won’t work and there is less than nothing on television. It’s 7:11pm and I wonder what to do… Tomorrow will grt the laptop fixed I hope, if it needs a part, out of luck.
Tanga is larger and more commercial than Pangani, that does not say much though. Can’t believe this is happening, it sucks. Then again, as though on a roulette wheel, fortune and misfortune is being randomly distributed around the world.
Just today. Someone won the lottery, someone bought SU on the NYSE and is up 3% and someone found out their blood testa are good. Someone even found a penny or that old whatever they thought they lost. Flip side is someone has been killed or maimed in an auto accident, diagnosed with a terminal ilness, gotten divorce papers or laid off their job while in debt with dependants.
Having a dead laptop is a small problem in the game of life. Also, like the expression “small people have big problems and big people have small problems”. Makes sense, yes?
Made it to yacht club, much preferred atmosphere at the Mkonge Hotel. Walked right in looked at menu and saw two old guys drinking at bar while this pretentious sounding family in shorts that are entirely too shirt complained about inane things. Blew cover and took some random “never been here before” photos.
A gent asked if I was a member, said no I’m Canadian. Said it is 2500tsh cover, politely told him the atmosphere did not warrant it. Decent place if with friends, 1pm on a Tuesday, not so much.
Went back to visit the computer people, closed but saw their friend in the aluminum business and exchanged pleasantries. Turns out next door a fruit shop! Better deal then last which was best deal had ever found. Same price just more and best avocado juice I’ve ever had. I like Tanzania.
Tanga is similar to Pangani, lots of buildings from the colonial times. Germans in late 1800’s and British in 1960’s. Many old buildings remain. Tanga is cool and has countless clubs along coast. Yacht club, rail club, swimming club. Each building is unique and full of character. Supposedly the colonialists all died young from malaria or war.
Met a Norwegian girl who came to volunteer 3 years ago. Met a local guy and now lives here. She got it 5 times 1st year, never again. Not cerebral so just like bad flu.
Hopefully things get resolved soon, until then, happy just living here and mulling about. Also figured why went out so much in Asia and Europe… So many fun tourists! Not many here and more safari nature types, not chillers from around the globe. People who did not party in Asia and Europe definitely missed out, hanging out in a hotel room on other side if planet watching tv or reading is boring if you ask yours truly.
Regards,
P.S: photo has little to do with update, it’s the path to where I am staying on way home from Pangani. He was a nice moto driver. Moto drivers world wide have a bad rep. I reckon it’s a conspiracy by the taxi guys in cars, another time.
