A Splendid Summer Sunday in Vancouver, BC, Canada
Writing this on a SUNNY SUMMER DAY in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. The day started off a bit chilly but quickly became what it was meant to be AND MORE. There is so much happening downtown that my head is spinning and those with ADHD are so torn between things to do that they are just standing in one spot while their wide eyes inspect everything in sight. Seriously, it’s a beautiful day and there is lots happening downtown, let’s get right into it.
The plan was to write this tomorrow morning but that simply isn’t possible when you’re leaving the downtown core at 7am and making your way to the ferry towards Vancouver Island. It’s been almost 3 years since I’ve been to Victoria and can’t say anything other than I’m elated to get this road trip underway. If you read the blog, you know that I had intentions on visiting most of the island but then became very ill, this time it will be different. I also love this city, plenty of fun things to do in Vancouver.
Finally met everyone I’ll be working with and everyone was cool, one of those situations where everyone just gets along but I guess the masterminds behind the project had personalities in mind, yes? We got our Toyota Hybrid cars and were off, Brendan and I got lost because although between the two of us we’ve visited most of the planet, neither of us really drive cars anymore and most certainly are not used to operating a GPS. Suffice to say we ended up doing this big loop but it was a great time to get to know your partner in crime for the next month.
After that mishap we decided to hit this all you can eat sushi joint where the owner was like “you don’t finish, I’m charging you, seriously” as they were closing the all you can eat for the day and we made a last minute order. Naturally the guy talked us down half our order and we still couldn’t finish it. The guy seemed really firm but fair like an old crotchety principal that made you sit in the corner of his office staring at the wall. We put up a valiant effort but there was no finishing the feast, I just asked the guy straight up if this was cool and much to our surprise he said “sure”. That said my intestines aren’t cool with anything even remotely related to that egregious culinary escapade.
After that it was time to stroll through the streets of Vancouver on a sunny summer Sunday afternoon. Granville was closed as it appears to always be and people were making music, playing street hockey, it was juts a fun time. There was also part of the Vancouver International Jazz Festival going on near the gallery and it was just a solid vibe. We couldn’t partake though as it was business as usual and we were off to Yaletown.
Once in Yaletown, we met with the stakeholders involved in this campaign and shortly after we were all hanging out and eating, once again. Ordering that sushi was a mistake on numerous levels and we shall never mention that lapse in judgement again, cool? I have been using my gopro that I bought a day ago and think that I’m collecting some cool footage as the camera is so incognito. Hopefully at some point during or shortly after the trip I’ll have something to show you because let’s get serious, video is the new black.
This trip is going to be insane, next stop Vancouver Island!
