You've rented an apartment, now it's time to get the most out of it. Here's the brief guide that makes creating a cozy apartment simple.

Hang Some Pictures

Make an apartment rental a bit more personal and homey by hanging pictures. Bare walls can be pretty depressing, and they can make any space feel sterile. Instead, put up pictures of friends and family or purchase posters, art, and other types of decor.

It’s always a good idea to check with your landlord to make sure hanging things up is allowed. If your landlord doesn’t allow screws or nails in the wall, you can try resting larger paintings and mirrors on the wall to get the same kind of aesthetic.

Diffuse a Cozy Scent

A cozy home can be created through many different methods. Think about the holidays and what you find the most comforting. Is it the smell of cooked food? Warm apple pie? Scent can add a warm, welcoming aroma that is instantly relaxing.

Candles, potpourri, plug-ins, and more can all be used to diffuse peaceful scents throughout your home. A smart homeowner might purchase something like scent diffusers to get the same effect as a candle without the fire hazard.

Blankets Galore

A cozy apartment can’t be considered cozy until it has a sherpa throw blanket or two. You can add pops of color to your place by purchasing colorful fluffy blankets. Use them to cuddle down when the time is right.

Soft blankets, rugs, and bed linens are a great way to set the cozy scene at home.  Don’t you just hate it when you step on cold tile floors in the morning? Cold, hard floors aren’t just uncomfortable, but they can also cause foot pain and foot conditions.

The good news is that you can simply add rugs—natural jut rugs, burlap rugs, wool rugs, cotton rugs, or faux fur rugs—adjacent to your bed, the living room, kitchen, and virtually any areas in your home to up the coziness. Plus, rugs are perfect for adding texture and color to any space, especially if you want some accent in your semi-minimalist apartment.

Put Up Some Twinkle Lights

Lighting can make or break a space. One single lightbulb hanging in the middle of the room creates a very different vibe than a bunch of lamps and warm strings of lights hanging delicately on the walls.

If you can afford it, also consider buying lightbulbs that can be dimmed. There is nothing cozier than turning the lights down to watch a movie after a long day at work.
