Televisions are Garbage in Amsterdam

Television TV garbage Amsterdam

This is the first “daily photo story” of sorts.

Took this photo when I first got to Amsterdam, Netherlands in May, 2010. There was a large garbage strike going on and I found it cool that the TV was just left, abandoned with the rest of the garbage. The reality is most everything on TV is propaganda garbage to begin with so found it very fitting.

Ever been to Amsterdam? One of my fav cities in the world.

I never watch TV unless it’s a sporting event, namely golf. Since being in Chiang Mai I have been watching more of it. I can’t get over the fact that the NEWS only broadcasts what is wrong with society and that every other show is about crime and murder.

We wonder why society is getting more of the same?

I completely agree that TV is total crap. We haven’t had cable for years and it’s one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only am I not subjected to all that is wrong in the world, but I also am not convinced to buy all the new gadgets companies advertise. And I can watch whatever shows I like online.

I couldn’t agree more. I watch a few things online from time to time as well.

    Thanks for stopping by.

Love the symbolism. What’s funny is before I started travelling I watched that garbage and got really into it. So weird to come home with a new perspective and watch two has-beens from some reality tv show commenting on what some other celebrity is wearing or doing….who cares?? either that or its depressing news. quite a contrast to actually living life…

maybe i need to go to amsterdam…

It’s a weird world we live in Victoria.

I don’t care but the reality is many do. In life I’ve come to concluded that 99.9% of people would rather watch things happen than get involved. Also those in the stands always have an opinion but never voice them in public.
