Strolling Around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Hello and good day,

It’s a Monday morning but it’s Labor Day so everyone is off and gets to go out and play. Yesterday, the entire city was catching rays from Coal Harbor to English Bay as I made my way to Robson Street from where I stay. There was no real plan except it was a fine sunny Sunday and the idea of going for a long stroll to see what the world has in store seemed like a logical choice.

Vancouver has a huge Asian influence which is great, they had this Asian food fair of sorts on this small section of Granville which looked grand. The lines were long while my attention span short so no meal materialized. Either way, it’s refreshing to see street eats that go beyond the disgusting hot dog or sweaty sewer sausage which are staples on the corners of North America’s streets.

The city of Vancouver is always interesting and at times feels like Gotham City. You’ll see a real cross section of humanity surrounded by mountains and tough to top natural beauty. It’s an interesting part of the world to say the least and during the summer months it seems like there is always something going on. I also like their dedicated bike lanes, it just makes sense and wish more cities would do the same.

Robson Street has lots of great stores but still didn’t find a new pair of shoes to replace mine that are currently in a state of comical disrepair. There was quite a bit going on and it’s definitely one of the hubs of activity during the day, no matter the date. It’s also home to many restaurants and anything and everything that would accommodate someone in the mood to make purchases.

From there I had plans for Sushi but it’s a Sunday aka nobody is selling it really. You want to enjoy it on a Tuesday as the fish market is Sunday / Monday, know what I mean? Next thing you know you’re in line at McDonald’s and eating these disgustingly delicious burgers made of 10% beef and 0% chicken before heading to the seawall.

The Vancouver Seawall is pretty cool, busy and offers some great views. Considering yesterday was a Sunday and part of a long weekend, it was packed with people from all walks of life and all corners of the globe. It’s well setup and has a biking lane, walking lane and the like. I went right near the Granville bridge so it also had some green spaces where people were just relaxing. Canadian cities have a certain feel to them… That said, Canada is different than most of the world, isn’t it?

That it for now, it’s another beautiful day outside waiting to be enjoyed beyond the net…

Tips hat,
