Greetings,

I’m writing this from Berlin, fresh after a 12 hour slumber and a day before I catch a flight back to South Africa. In 2012, I had the distinct pleasure of getting to visit South Africa and I loved it. Not long ago the opportunity arose again and naturally, I jumped at it. The campaign is called #MeetSouthAfrica and is being run by the fine people at South African Tourism and iambassador. There will be three distinct trips all leaving from Johannesburg and ending in Durban for INDABA 2014 which is one of the largest marketing events for the tourism industry on the African calender.

The three different trips are heritage and culture, adventure and luxury. I’ll be partaking in the latter and after Durban will be hanging around the area for a few additional days to try my luck at some fishing and golfing. Similar to a safari, you never know what’s going to happen when fishing and that’s why I’m looking forward to trying my luck. I’m beyond excited about this trip as South Africa was one of the highlights of my travels up until this point; feeling like a lucky lad to get another chance to meet more of the people and places within its borders. Heck, last time I did the world’s tallest bungee swing in Durban; what.a.rush!

Something cool is that South African Tourism has also setup some instawalks which are basically photo walks with a webby twist… In the past people would take photos and that would be that; since social media is such a game changer, we’ll be sharing them in real-time and who knows what might occur, yes ? There are walks in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. I’ll be participating in the Johannesburg and Durban walks; if you’re in the area do make sure you attend as I’m sure it will be much more than just a stroll while snapping shots on your smartphone. I’m partaking in the luxury tour with four other bloggers; two from South Africa and two others from different parts of the world. We’re going to be exploring some of the very best places to stay and dine in South Africa with leisurely activities to fill our days. Two activities that jump out at me are the swimming with seals and a hot air balloon ride; both will be a first for this gent. Some of the hotels and restaurants lined up look sensational but we’ll have plenty of time to discuss them later.
