Hanging Out in Prince Rupert & North Pacific Cannery

Greetings,

I’m back in Prince Rupert and the sun is still shining! In the first video blog about Prince Rupert, the sky was grey, we saw some sights and had fun hiking the Butze Rapids Trail. In this video the sun is shining and we visit the North Pacific Cannery aka largest intact cannery left along the coast. After that I take you on a little tour of the city aka just me hanging out and soaking up the scenes with a visit to the Museum of Northern British Columbia.

The North Pacific Cannery was good times as I love looking at what is left from the early industrial era. Growing up I read all about Andrew Carnegie, Rockefeller and of course Ford. Those guys were my heroes and I have tremendous respect for people who think big and make waves in this world. What am I talking about you ask!? Just walking around the relics of a past era let me sense what it was like when that cannery was cranking out product and the now barren halls were filled with loud voices and the sounds of money making machines in motion. The cannery was established in 1889 and closed in the 1970’s.

It’s another sunny day in Prince Rupert, we arrived on a pleasant overnight ferry from Haida Gwaii and I slept like a baby.

I’m here with the Explore BC Project, to learn more  visit the Tourism BC Facebook Page and look up #ExploreBC on Twitter.

Tips hat,

P.S: Prince Rupert gets a spike of excitement when the cruise ships come to port, it’s fun.
