Greetings from Drake Bay, Costa Rica aka Paradise

Greetings,

It’s about 5pm and the sun is setting here over Drake Bay, Costa Rica. Why am I in Drake Bay on the pacific coast of the Osa Peninsula you ask? Well through the powers of social media I ran into the fine people who run a luxury eco-lodge / hotel called Aguila de Osa. We started chatting and now I”m here for the next 3 days to soak up everything that is serene here in Drake Bay. I had heard great things about this place and that it has one of the longest left surf breaks in the world? I’m not sure about that last part but it was in discussion and now I finally have a chance to visit!

It’s a bit of a grey old day but the area is still beautiful. I arrived at about 1:30 after taking a long bus adventure which I made a vlog about and will share later. This place is called Drake Bay after Sir Francis Drake, I suggest you look him up as he’s a fascinating fellow. To say this place is chilled out would be an understatement, I’m trying to compare it to somewhere I’ve been or at least draw some type of comparison but my mind is blank, maybe it’s because I’m already into the whole “rancho relaxo” vibe? Who knows, who cares.

It’s not that busy right now as we’re not in high season but I can see how this place is when the weather is perfect and it’s the picture of paradise. I can’t believe I’ve been on the Osa Peninsula for almost two months and I’m only starting to venture out now. The ride here is pretty cool and it’s really cheap and takes a few hours. You can also fly and I looked into it but there were no flights showing online and I’m glad there wasn’t. The best way I can describe the drive is “leaving civilization behind”. You take a dirt road and next thing you know you’re driving through rivers, going over bridges that even make gents like myself nervous and get to see a slice of flora and fauna experienced by few.

Appetizers are starting soon and I’m in the mood to just sit on a comfortable chair while dinner is in the air and sip on a cold rum and anything. It felt so good to get back on the road, I was kinda apprehensive / lazy about the whole thing but the moment I started joking with my cab driver, I felt alive again. Taking a trip into the unknown on the other side of the world or in your home country is always a good time. It’s the unknown where you grow, meet new people and expand your comfort zone. Topic of meeting new people, met a gent my age in La Palma, we’re going to go fishing.

Seems like traveling has become a habit of mine, a habit I’m totally cool with.

Tips hat,

P.S: Took a hot shower and it was like ecstasy.
