Catching an Early Flight to Jamaica

Today’s update will be brief,  flying to Jamaica tomorrow.

The Jamaica Tourist Board is hosting a press trip and lucky enough to be included…

Only reasonable thing to do is eat dinner in about an hour, pack and disconnect until it’s go time.

Stay tuned…

I got married at the Riu Ochos Rio. It was a great trip with 19 guests and I wouldn’t trade it in for the world. I recommend going on the Bob Marley tour up the mountain to where he grew up. Unfortunately I was there on the day his mother died so it was quite a somber atmosphere.

@TheNerd Sounds like a great wedding party and the tour although somber must have been quite the experience. Thanks for the heads up.

It was definitely quite an experience. We also did the Dunn’s River Falls tour. We stayed at an all inclusive resort which was great too as one does not need to worry about money. The amount of “ganja” that gets offered to tourists on the tour is crazy.

As it happens, just looked at the itinerary in detail for the first time, I’m going to Riu Ochos Rio! Not sure about the tour though but have seen that type of behavior on different trails around the world.

@shabl You won’t be disappointed with the resort. When we went a little over 3 years ago it was only 3 years old then so I guess that would make it close to 7 now. There are two nice pools with swim up bars and the beach is beautiful. It’s shaped like a double horseshoe (or a W). There is a gazebo in one of the “horseshoes” and that is where we were married 🙂

@TheNerd Awesome and thanks for all that info, I will be sure to have a beverage in in your honor when in the area. The tour seems quite packed, looking forward to it and sharing on the site. Should be slick!

@shabl Awesome! I’d love to see some pictures of the area and resort. I wonder how much (if at all) it has changed since I was there. My folks travel south almost every year and they chose this resort 3 years in a row 🙂

@TheNerd Good to know, you’ll have to let me know if you see a difference.

Ya mon! Drink plenty of dark rum for me while I freeze in the dark, waiting for it to snow enough so I can get to work at the ski hill!
