Travel Decisions & Le Brouage, France

Greetings,

Looks like it is time for this gentleman to “get a move on” tomorrow. I’ve enough enough cheese to give myself a cardiac arrest and drank enough wine to sail a ship full of surly sailors in. I will miss Ronce-Les-Baines, big time. I’ve been here for ~1 week and have several acquaintances from the guys who run the bars to the local guys I met on a Saturday. It’s also very peaceful and easy here.

Not much of an update today, I wrote so much yesterday I couldn’t  even be bothered to read it today, it’s just too long, if you, the reader, read it, I applaud you. We went to Le Brouage today, an old fortified town that used to be on the ocean, that was ~300+ years ago and since then the ocean has receded so now it’s ~1 mile on shore. Yes, photos were taken, no there is no way of sharing them. Borrowing from google images is lame when you have better ones.

The fort was cool, mainly because I love forts, loved building them as a kid and if chance should have it, would be cool to live in one in the future. Thing with forts though is that isolation is a disadvantage. People can surround it and eventually you just have to surrender or do a swan dive off the walls into the rocks below, neither options are particularly appealing.

I digress.

Something else that makes le Brouage so cool is that it’s the birth place of Champlain. As a Canadian, that is something I find interesting, there is also a town near here called Marennes, it simply has the largest church I have ever seen. I stopped to take a photo but it was so tall I had no idea how I’d fit it into an image.

Basically just hanging out right now, tomorrow my cousin is leaving and I’m going with him. We’ll hang out tomorrow and then I’ll go, somewhere. I’m thinking south.

They are closing up this bar as it’s 8PM and the town is dead.

Tips hat,
