You'll never know unless you go

The Mission Back & Mulling About in Managua, Nicaragua

Greetings,

I’m back in Managua eating breakfast in bed at a friend’s house because his wife is that cool.  I’ll be tagging along with a friend doing this and that until I bounce back to the Corn Islands this afternoon on the 2pm flight. I am excited to go back as I have some unfinished business and this trip served as a great way to “clear my head” so to speak. My resolve is strong and my mission is clear, now all I need to do is hold the wheel and steer.

Yesterday I almost made the biggest travel mistake of my life. So I told you about my shopping spree, right? Imagine packing it all ever so tightly into a large suitcase that was colored black and not brightly. Stepping onto the rental car shuttle and when exiting, forgetting such said bag!! I grabbed my fishing rods in their carry case like it was all that mattered in the world.

Luckily, I had been chatting and laughing with the only other gent on the shuttle and he stopped the driver and I got my bag. I’ve never done that before in all my years of travel and sure enough forget it when it’s got the most bounty. Let this be a reminder to keep your mind on your stuff, it doesn’t matter how much you travel as these things can happen to anyone, I think?

Moral of the story: Talk to people, had I been antisocial I’d now be without my stuff…

The trip back was smooth, switched seats so this couple could sit together. I ended up having a great convo with a gentleman from Spain, who works for the UN in Managua. It sounded like a cool job and almost asked if they were hiring when I remembered I’m fiercely independent and as a result, that would never work for me long term.

This photo is the best one I got from the plane and it still sucks.

Have a slick Saturday.

Tips hat,

  1. Well, at least you’d have had the new poles…and the reel (and laptop), assuming it was in your carry-on. Gotta know what’s important, right?

    • Indeed and I hate to admit it but even the reel was in the suitcase, it was stacked.

  2. Well its either a good ad for AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or a very bad re-entry on the space shuttle, and I can’t make up my mind… so that makes you a drunken astronaut. Happy Space Travel Blog.

    • Indeed, toying around with HDR and apparently have some things to learn.

      • You just got a lot of noise there from pushing things too much, things like exposure and ISO. Post processing has exacerbated the situation, HDR or not. Think about getting Lightroom or Aperture, and tread lightly on the HDR thing… its really easy to overdo it. Takes a deft hand, like fishing light and tight.

  3. Next time I see you in person, I’m totally getting ahold of a hat so I can tip it in your direction.

Oh, and, nice fail almost forgetting your bag.

  4. Surprisingly it’s easily done…I have almost forgotten my bag from trains before…

  5. I can’t even remember to pick my keys up from the countertop at the beer store after completing a purchase…
