The Ferry From Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, BC

Good day,

I’m currently on the ferry from Prince Rupert to Haida Gwaii so this post about the ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert is most apropos. It’s a 16 hour ferry through a beautiful part of the world and the ferry is next level so your comfort is ensured. I basically slept, eat and made this video, seriously. Being 100% disconnected from the world as you sail through narrow channels is not only relaxing but rejuvenating.

I highly recommend you hit the buffet, it’s tasty and helps pass time / puts you into a food coma.

It was a good time but I’m never in a rush to jump on another 16 hour ferry if you know what I’m saying!?

I’m here with the Explore BC Project, to learn moreĀ  visit the Tourism BC Facebook Page and look up #ExploreBC on Twitter.

Tips hat,

P.S: Big thanks to the Captain who let us up on the roof, the photo is of the Grenville Channel in the distance.

  1. Well guys, you have outdone yourselves! Thanks for an excellent clip on BCFerries!

    • Thanks Jeff, we had a really good time!

  2. HEY ROB ARE YOU COLD !! ITS SUMMER TIME BUD…Y R U WEARING A JACKET ALL THE TIME

    • Look at what Carrie said, we’re north and strong ocean breeze to say the least.

      • Ha ha ha! :)

  3. Do we really want to allow oil tankers on this amazingly beautiful coast!

    • This is a passenger ferry, good sir.

      • I believe Bob is referring to the potential for a pipeline project linking the tar sands oil developments to the British Columbia coast, which would result in tanker traffic through those waters.

        • I know he is but that is beyond the scope of this update. :]

  4. What a beautiful province and country you’re in!! Pristine waters and views creating a sense of such calm and tranquility with all the modern upscale quarters and food inside! Really enjoyed the video. Thanks.

    • It was a really cool experience, glad I had the opportunity and the buffet at Vista is a great way to break up the voyage. They also has a sweet breakfast, FYI!

      Glad you liked the video.

  5. Wow, how serene that makes me feel! It is just more than lovely there~ enjoying your trip so much Rob.

    • Thanks and glad to hear as I’m having a fantastic time! :]

  6. One did not fully understand the degree of quality that GoPro video recording brings to the (dinner) table until that prime rib closeup. YES

    • Couldn’t be happier with it and that prime rib was taste!

  7. The ferry is like a mini cruise ship minus the chaos, night clubs, karaoke bars, and swimming pools. The views were once again fantastic… I’m really going to have to experience this. The cold weather has been the deterrent for my consideration.

    • Supposedly the weather has been unusually cold. I remember spending some time in BC during the summer and it being shorts and t-shirt the whole time. That said, the further north you go…
