Taxi from Managua to Granada, Nicaragua
Managua, Nicaragua is not known as a nice place but it is where the international airport is. Most people who fly in leave immediately to elsewhere. If you’re going to take a taxi from Managua to Granada, recommend you do it during the day. If it is daytime, cross the street to the Best Western and have one of their drivers take you, it’s a safer bet, they have new cars and will cost you around $40. The opening bid was $50 and a local guy I met on the plane said locals would pay $30, $35 is probably possible if you wanna haggle.

I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, but always on my phone, so I haven’t been able to comment. But I definitely live vicariously through all your travels, and I find it amazing how you’ve managed to keep yourself on the move for so long! I’ve been abroad for about a year now as well, but I haven’t seen nearly as many countries as you have. The other day I visited your blog to check out how your Jamaica vacation was going, only to find that you were already in Nicaragua and had been to two other countries in between. I’m seriously impressed. Keep it up – I’m hoping your travel style will have an influence on mine! – Maria
@mrrria Thanks a lot for the positive feedback. I know countless people read this daily but I never knew who does and love hearing from readers. I’m glad you enjoy reading this blog as I love writing it and we’re just getting started! For some reason sitting in traffic gives me anxiety but endless travel never gets old and the waits for flights, buses and trains never seem to bother me.Thanks for the comment.
Always wanted to make it to Nicaragua. Went to Guatemala a few months back and had a great time, highly recommended if you have time…
@TheWorldOrBust Keep hearing that from everyone, thanks for the confirmation!
Dang, and I thought we were getting ripped off when we “splurged” for a $20 ride from the TecaBus station in Managua to our hostel in Granada.
I’m headed to Leon tomorrow to do some Volcano Boarding, so I’ll have to brush up on some of your Leon posts to get the low-down.
I’ll be in Leon tomorrow, I will be at Via Via at say 1:15PM. Meeting some people to go check out a house, maybe see you there?
