Albeit brief, totally pumped and rejuvenated despite being on the road over 12 hours. This city is electric and you can feel it as long as you have a pulse. Coming back to places you love is great fun, even if only for a connection. Places like this and your other favs haven’t gone anywhere, makes you wonder why it’s been so long… Tips hat, P.S: Slot machines in terminal are a nice touch.

Having a great time joshing and chilling with like-minded individuals from around the globe. Haven’t made it to a session yet but plan on going to a bunch of travel related ones for obvious reasons.

Yesterday hung out on the exhibition floor then went to the Hilton Pool for a bit before heading to Envy for the Market Leverage “Blogger Dinner“. Great times.

Following that hit up LAVO and drank redbull vodka’s like a Russian discovering caffeine for the first time. It was a fun filled evening / day from start to finish.

Paying for it now, sorta.

I *may* be going to LA tomorrow and flying from there to Thailand, not sure but if I am, I gotta get my flights organized … or do I? This whole “take it as it comes” approach seems to be working out just fine.

I was fortunate enough to attend the 2nd Annual “Blogger Dinner” at blog world hosted by Market Leverage at Envy Steakhouse. Usually opt for the filet but went rib eye, delicious!!

Alright alright, last night at Lavo was sick. It was one of the unofficial parties for Blog World and I had an awesome time. I only took 2 videos and one of them was too dark, luckily this one has some light. I think ALL CLUBS should have go go dancers. Everyone can appreciate their talent and they help “get the party started” so to speak.

Here is a quick clip from last night’s opening night party at Blog World. It was open bar at the Bank in the Bellagio. After this the party spilled over to Karamel where the party continued for most and accelerated for some.

This is the only clip I took, I participate in the events rather than ‘capture them’ but thought I’d share this.

I’m in Vegas and loving it. Tossed and turned all night last night. For some reason whenever I get into Vegas, I can’t sleep, at all. Woke up and opened the window to the view above. The sun was shining and someone turned the heat up, way up.

In Canada, it’s snowing where I’m from and getting cold in Vancouver. That’s no way to live? Don’t get me wrong, before I cracked my knee caps in a leg press in 2001, I loved skiing / snowboarding as much as the next joker. I like snow where it belongs, on mountains, not on your car. I digress.

Beautiful day today in Vegas. Went for a stroll and spent some time just “relaxing” by the pool. In fact when I’m done with this I’m going to go back for some more. I’m a real heat fiend, by that I mean I’ll also probably spend an ungodly length of time in the hot tub, on top of 30 degree heat, with drink in hand no doubt.

What’s on for tonight? Well I’m here for Blog World Expo because I own and operate Bloggeries – “The Human Edited” Blog Directory. I bought it in 2007, no regrets. As a result, every year I come to Vegas for a few days and hang out with the rest of the sphere. Some really cool people that think like I do. I always come alone and have an awesome time.

On the topic of alone, traveling alone is optimal in my opinion. When you travel with someone else it’s a whole new level of drama you have to deal with. Let me explain, if I meet a crew of people and we get along, boom that’s it we’re chilling. If I have a friend, they have to get along with the new people, new people have to like friend etc etc… Having friends on the road is great if you aren’t that gregarious but if you are, don’t bother. That said there are always exceptions and I can think of a handful of people I know that would be awesome to travel with.

Anyways, I’m going to the TechSet party tonight at the Bellagio then tomorrow I’m off to the tradeshow and conference. Should be good times, always is.

I’m out, time to spend some more time at the pool below, no point in having endless time if you don’t use it properly.

I’m going to post up random clips of the path I took. I ‘m not a “tourist” looking for all the trendy stuff, just an account of part of the path this journey has taken.

I LOVE LAS VEGAS. Straight up, the place is awesome and arguably one of my favorite places in the world thus far. I like it because of the intensity, enthusiasm, cheap hotels, flights and general debauchery that ensues. I filmed this video above last year when I was leaving, knowing full well I’d be back. The minute you get off the plane your energy levels spike and you feel alive, so incredibly alive. Never been? Go.

Last night in Vancouver was awesome, had dinner and drinks with some great friends. Good times until I woke up with a head that felt like an anvil on my neck accompanied by an aggressive man with a big hammer.

Got my travel insurance today. I’d bore you with more on this topic but I ended getting what I wanted, for cheaper after calling around in circles while my head was  spinning.

Next stop? Las Vegas. I have no clue how long I’ll stay, I’m aiming for~5 days. What’s funny is how cheap it is to stay in Vegas because they expect most visitors to be degenerate gamblers, alcoholics or both.  If you aren’t a degenerate gambler, you don’t have to worry about losing it all before hanging yourself with your neck tie in the gents room.

Asia can wait, my schedule is about as flexible as a gymnast the day before winning a gold medal and it just makes sense. I got a cheap direct flight and hotels are inexpensive in Vegas. They just want you to stay there as long as possible because most people going are degenerate gamblers. Your average adult loses $384 or so according to noise spewing from the speakers of the monorail. As a result of that and many other factors, getting to and staying in Las Vegas is rather reasonable.

Woke up early today to check the markets and sort out some details. Looks like I bought at the bottom of the recent dip which was Friday. However, if you don’t buy stocks that are part of an index then the correlation between index movement and your equities can vary to a large extent. The big climb Monday had horrible volume , I’m not so trusting of this rally.

Despite thinking of a round the world ticket(RTW) and points on another carrier I’m finding myself flying WestJet again. With the prices that I’m getting I’m feeling confident I can get around just fine at ~the same price without any of the restrictions or commitments that come with a RTW ticket.

A flight to Bangkok, Thailand from Las Vegas is only fractionally more expensive than one from Vancouver. From people I’ve spoken with, Bangkok is definitely a great place to begin in Asia. I’d like to just relax and get an apartment that you pay by the month but who knows if that will happen. Supposedly you can get a nice furnished place for under $500US a month
