Good day,

That’s “Shark Bay” in Koh Tao, Thailand which is still my favorite island in the world to date. The island is only ~7kmx6km or something of that nature. It has out of this world beaches, great nightlife and incredibly hospitable residents. When I look at it again, all I can think of is “that’s paradise”.

Not that I’m the “overly romantic type” but if one were to ask a lady to marry them, this seems like a most appropriate place, yes?

If you go to the islands in the gulf of Thailand, I recommend you visit this bay as it’s, well, “super chill”.

Tips hat,

Chumphon @ Dawn

Leaving today to catch the 2:45 ferry from Koh Tao to Chumphon.

I have a confession to make with you, the internet in general. When I was in Las Vegas, I had no clue where I was going to go. Gary let me know he was going to LA and I was welcome to join him. At that exact moment I made an executive decision and looked online for a cheap flight, for some reason “Bangkok” was always in my mind.

Ok, back to the confession, yesterday, after booking my ticket to Bangkok, I looked at a map of Thailand, for the first time. I had no clue where I was or really even how Asia was laid out. I never bothered, I just wanted out of Canada for the Winter.

Anyways, after looking at the map, I realized going back to Bangkok would be ridiculous, I’m touring the world, why back track? As a result, I woke up early today and canceled my ticket. I got charged 30% fee of my 950baht ticket.

The morning boat is canceled, as a result I’m on the afternoon. The afternoon is cheaper so with my refunded money I bought the afternoon ticket for a ferry from Koh Tao to Chumphon, Thailand. From there we’re going to Krabi, from there I will check out some other islands or just work my way south to Malaysia then Indonesia or something like that.

Koh Tao was awesome and I had a great time here. I spent ~10 days and have grown a lot. Had I stayed at home, nothing would of changed. Change is great, it means you’re out of your comfort zone and you’re growing. Humans are really no different from a plant regarding, all life is either growing or wilting. It feels good to be “growing again”.

Anyways, I’m outta here, Koh Tao was awesome and I highly recommend you visit it sometime. I’m also tempted to catch a flight from somewhere maybe Malaysia to Tanzania to visit a friend. He could move anytime so … Why am I visiting places I know no one when I have other great places with great friends? The places you know no one, they will always be there, waiting.

Good day,

P.S: Had I looked at a map, I would of realized Koh Tao was one of the most isolated islands of the lot, I would of brought all my stuff to Koh Phangan, then Koh Samui and then back to the mainland. Oh well, you live you learn.

Greetings ladies and gentlemen,

I’ll give an update on the Koh Phangan Full Moon party tomorrow, for now let me tell you about a ferry ride from Koh Phangan to Ko Tao.

The first ferry out of Ko Phangan was at 8:30am, we got there and took a high speed catamaran. The sea was incredibly violent, the ferry was rocking so hard, people were not allowed on the top deck. It was a crazy roller coaster, rising so high then completely falling, to the point you could almost use a seat belt. To say people had sea sickness would be a gross understatement.

At times, it hit soooooo hard, that I could only compare it to when you drive a car too fast over pot holes, that “crunch feeling” of that was harder than we are supposed to take, but it’s “ok”.

At this point, the puking started. People were puking at an alarming rate, and the odor was overwhelming. Ever seen the movie “Stand By Me”? During the pie eating contest, someone pukes on someone else and then it starts this massive chain reaction. The ferry was something like that.

I’ve never been on a sea even remotely as rough, people were bracing themselves for the worst and everywhere you looked it was green faces and staff carry bags of vomit and handing out tiger balm to smell.

At this point, I went outside for the rest of the ride. Debbie the Downer did say that when the sea gets rough, these ferries get nuts. She wasn’t lying about that.

Also the wind here is blowing incredibly hard right now and the sea is higher than I’ve ever seen, it’s literally coming to about 2-3 feet from where my cabin starts, it used to typically be about 5-10 feet.

Now we’re hanging out at AC Bar, time to get some food, rest and start a plan of where I’m going next.

Oh, the full moon party is out of control, literally. It’s an absolute sensory overload.

Tonight is the full moon party in Koh Phangang, Thailand. 30,000 strangers, taking to a beach and just dancing. Supposedly it is an experience unlike any other.

People are leaving for full moon all day, I’m going on the 3PM ferry, when I get there I will immediately look for a room. Going to take it easy, if I didn’t go to this “event” which may be once in a lifetime, with a big gang, I’d not be able to blog on this here website, for I, would be boring.

I have booked the 3PM, it’s more expensive but it’s a speed boat, I paid 350 baht. The 10 am slow jammer is just too early, and too long. I am keeping my room here for 300 baht a night. When I get into Koh Phangang I may look for a place to stay the night, or just wing it with the rest of the people. I’m sure it will work out, always does.

I am curious about the “traffic jam” of a line up to get off the island tomorrow. Most ferries have a max capacity of 260 people or so, as you can imagine, there will be lines.

I could bring my stuff, but I heard from many people, after the party, you’re done with the island, makes sense, yes? Also I want to get back to Koh Tao, do some snorkeling before leaving back to the mainland and traveling North, destination still unknown.

The tide is incredibly high, lots of wind. Locals are taking down parts of their shop / bars in preparation for the coming monsoons. Also full moon’s usually make for some crazy waves. The ocean is so high already, that it’s nearly in cabin. The wind is also picking up, big time. As I write this trees are bending and what not, how exciting. Either way, after I get back from Koh Phangang, first thing to do is get off the islands and away from potential danger and back on this trek.

Last night I went to an internet shop and found one computer that let me login to my website, this is sooo weird. Just checked again and all I get is a blank page. Assuming this one computer lets me access it, should be good to go. Yesterday I did *everything* I had to work related, feels good. However, this is a bit dis concerning to say the least, not being able to access your businesses is a scary thing when it’s your main income source.

Suffice to say, tonight should be interesting, bringing my camera of course. I’m currently hanging out with a guy from California who started an affiliate network and sold it, it’s funny, everyone who is traveling long term went through a similar “frosh week” experience when they first set out, once you’ve had enough you quickly revert back to your prior self, expanded network and get back to “doing your thing”.

I made a video from the “Look Out” on top of Koh Tao, click here.

Deep sea fishing was awesome in retrospect, I wish I caught more but it was definitely “worth it”. The one fish I caught was a good size and it tasted delicious, delicious. Left at 9:45, got back at 4:30. Hit up a shoal a few miles off the island. If you want more action, I’d recommend you go on the night fishing trips, I’ve heard you catch more and it makes sense, most fish feed at dawn and dusk, yes?

After fishing, we brought our catch to our favorite restaurant, for 300 baht, they cooked it all, in many different styles. Something about having a shore lunch or dinner that is truly majestic.

Considering fishing was only $50 US or ~1600baht, which is cheap for deep sea, I highly recommend it. They take you out on a large boat, not some little long tail, everyone gets a rod and you use squid as bait.

The food is alright, I could of used more so buy some sandwiches at 7/11 and while you’re at it, buy a few beers, they are much pricier on the boat but then again, when in the middle of the ocean….

If I were back on Koh Tao an someone said “Want to go Deep Sea Fishing?” I’d say “sure”. Finally, our “captain” was one of the coolest, most energetic and happiest guys I have ever met.

Good day,
