Money & Marriage On My Mind

Wow, it’s already Day 3.  Surprise, surprise, it’s another beautiful, beautiful day in downtown Vancouver. Sun is shining and the weather is more pleasant than Ottawa’s was mid summer, seriously.  I hope the weather holds as it’s been nice all week and a great friend of mine is getting married today.

Work wise I’m pushing through an idea for a fishing clothing company and keeping my eyes open for other opportunities. Part of not having a salary or a job is never having to go to work but always having to remain self motivated, always. If you don’t motivate yourself daily and make things happen for yourself, it’s only a matter of time until you’re waiting in line for a crappy coffee on your way to a job, so you can get a steady cheque for your time. If you have ever worked for yourself before you’ll know what I’m talking about.

I tried doing something similar to this ~6 years ago when I was fresh out of University and ended up just playing tennis and going out at night. Needless to say I ended up getting a job and the ventures I was working on never exploded.

Truth be told this journey has begun but won’t “really start” until mid October when I take  flight overseas. Sure I’m not working and I’m on the other side of Canada which is far enough but I’m familiar with these places, I know a lot of people here and there is no culture difference. Things will really get interesting when I know almost no one, don’t speak the language and can’t read the signs! I’d be leaving for overseas sooner but I didn’t get around to vaccinations until early September and have to wait for another Hep B shot. Seriously … I’ll wait 3 weeks to NOT come back with a disease thank you.

Had a steam this morning, a word of advice is always bring a towel, drying yourself with one of those wall mounted hand dryers isn’t a good time, trust me.

All this being said, I gotta go, people are starting to come over for a pre-reception and my attention to this screen is somewhat anti-social.
