Malaria Symptoms & Treatment – Day 2

Greetings,

I’d like to say feeling better from the malaria treatment and no real symptoms but I feel about 100X worse. This is arguably the worst I’ve felt on this trip besides the 1 year anniversary which is April 6th where I fractured my forehead on the street in Vietnam. I’m on day 2 of the treatment. Let’s say I spoke way too soon on my previous post.

Malaria Symptoms?:

  • Cold Sweats
  • Shivering
  • Fever
  • Stomach Pains
  • Super Sore Throat (Ridonkulous actually)
  • Nausea
  • Headache
  • Sore Joints (mainly fingers and knees)
  • Fatigue
  • Sleeping Issues
  • Really sore mouth

Supposedly some friends who had it said they didn’t feel better after day 2, not sure. I went to a charity hospital as only one I know and the pills I got are generic? This place came recommended from a lady from Amsterdam who lives here and treats family there. Maybe they aren’t working? I have no clue, will let it run course 1 more day or so then get tested again, if not go buy some super good ones. I didn’t even think of that.

Friends car was mangled so yesterday went on a long cab ride to drop off key, probably not a good idea, also sleeping has been really erratic like always tired physically but wide awake mentally.Sleeping for no more than 3-5 hours then being wide awake with problems sleeping.

Spoke with a lady who had a 12 reading and she was feeling better after day 3, her husband who had a lower reading was still ill on day 3. Day 4 went to get tested and both clean. We shall see… I’m back in bed, it’s that annoying and tiring, very vanilla, might I add.

You don’t want malaria, you really don’t want it. It’s really not cool, at all.

What annoys me is I took the pills and still got it.

In fact most I know who took pills still got it.

It’s luck of the draw one believes.

Suffice to say, getting out of Africa soon.

I’m done here, like really done.
