Machine Gun Night Club Bouncers
Greetings,
This photo is of a “bouncer” at one of the clubs in Kuta, Bali wielding a machine gun.
Every once and while you forget that you’re not home anymore but actually, you’re in say “Indonesia”. Many of the night clubs have guys with machine guns as their bouncers. I have never seen anything that would require a guy with a machine gun but I was only there for 3 weeks so who knows.
Also probably has to do with the large bomb then went off in Kuta a few year ago killing all too many people.

I guess hanging out in nightclubs with machine gun wielding bouncers is one way to stop having a boring life!!!
I think that you are right, they were probably introduced after ‘the Bali bombings’, but I never understand the logic behind introducing machine guns to make everyone safer. Surely just a trigger happy incident just waiting to happen.

Haven’t been in Kuta since last year but I have some friends there who say “same old same old” which is still pretty cool if you get over the graffiti and what not.
It’s weird as normally it’s a thuggish bouncer. This was just some young kid with a lot of firepower.

The US does the same thing with our ridiculous airline restrictions. It’s just to create a “feeling” of security. To calm the masses. In reality, it really does nothing.
