Life is Good, Off to Elk Lake

Elk Lake – Hopefully where the lunkers are lurking.
Life is good, dare I say grand, despite feeling like crap again from treating my body like a three ring circus.
Here’s an analogy for you, let’s assume you’re a boxer and your performance in the ring is say, your health. If you get knocked out and get back up, you’re statistically easier to knock out again as you’re on the rebound. Same with your health, when you recover from something that totally kicked your a$$, you gotta watch your back.
Enough of that, I’m off to go fishing in Elk lake with a buddy, then practice my short game and hopefully rest up.
That’s it, that’s all.

Man, take it easy and stop killing yourself. Sounds like your having a great time. What is your long term goal at this point? Has it changed from your original plan? Just asking since the wife and I are planning something similar in Sept of 10. Working it around our kids in NZ and Buenos Aries.
Good luck
Hi Bruce,
Solid advice, I’ll last longer. Same long-term goal. To see most of the world, see how I like living most and avoid the majority of traps out there that make otherwise free people, modern slaves.
Best of luck with your adventure, you have a set time frame?
Looks like next Sept for 3 months in NZ and then 3 months in Buenos A if the daughter gets down there. Trying to get all the ducks in a row for leaving my business (partner issues and the rest) and liquidating real estate and all the rest of lifes baggage.
How are you dealing with health insurance? Are you only living off trading income (I follow PPT also) or do you have other sources?
I was planning on partially living off investement (interest and such) and maybe finding part time work. Was thinking about contacting companies I know who do business in those areas to see if they might be willing to pay for some help.
Really enjoying the blog and envying the change.
Hey Bruce,
Thanks for reminding me about medical insurance. I think I can get it from Bluecross for like $70 a year. DEAL.
I have some websites and don’t trade that much now but kinda getting back into it as it’s fun and lucrative.
I’m not opposed to working. I kinda wanna get random jobs maybe for 2 reasons. A) To meet new people in the area and B) to see how other people live.
The hardest part is liquidating everything, but once you start there is no turning back.
Are you a member of the PPT?
Hey Rob;
$70 a year? For my wife and I it will run $1,000 – 1,100 a month, and that will be through her ex employer (you can buy in the states through your employer for up to 18 months, then you are on your own and it will cost more). You have a good system up North. The conservatives in the states make it sound terrible (wait 6 months for cancer treatment). Our system is a mess.
I agree with your idea of work. I figure on getting any kind of job as long as it pays something, leaves me with the free time I want and is enjoyable. Does not really matter what it is.
I am a member of PPT. Since I have only really been investing myself for the past year (brought up as a buy and hold no matter what happen) I tend to lurk the site and have learned a lot. Getting better, but need to break the bad habits. Will come in time.
Wow, you just reminded me of a whole bunch of things I need to do, today.
I will call them and if it’s something drastically different I will let you know, here.
PPT is the goods, was raised same way and wish I had listened as I bought lots of equities in January & February but didn’t hold. Now I’m torn. I was banking most coin when I was making $$$ and leaving, but now looking back had I just held the stuff I bought months ago I’d of made more. Flip side is the last few months have been heavenly for longs. Who knows but I’m leaning more towards taking profits when they are around.
