It’s Saturday Night, Live from JFK in New York…

Good day,

The time is 10:15pm and I”m writing this from the King David Lounge in JFK International Airport in New York City, New York. Today has been long and I’m about 16 hours into my 27 hour trek from Victoria to Tel Aviv. I’ll always remember today as it’s one of those unique days where you wake up in Victoria, have breakfast in Seattle, lunch in Minneapolis and finally a late dinner in New York before finally passing out on a plane and waking up in Tel Aviv, Israel. It’s been a long day but believe it or not, it has flown by…

My friend who we’ll call Gavos is a trooper, he dropped me off at the airport at 4:30am and in no time I was boarding to Seattle. The ocean and islands surrounding Victoria looked stunning at sunrise, naturally I had a seat right near an engine so couldn’t really capture it as I’d of liked. Seattle was cool and I love how you fly right over the downtown core. Once there I eat a quick breakfast before it was off to Minneapolis.

Sure enough I had the center seat, great. Also the two people who surrounded me were the LAST people to get on the plane and turned out to be good fun. The several hour trip melted away and in no time I was in Minneapolis. I’m not a fan of that airport as it has no wifi aka the people who run it are simply not civilized. Also seems all my connection issues stem from such a place, today was no different. Big hello to “Steve Austin” from Austin and my yoga loving friend from from Grand Rapids…

There was bad weather in NYC and as a result we got delayed a few hours in Minneapolis. Suffice to say I have finally arrived in JFK a few hours late but no big deal because my flight to Tel Aviv is at midnight. When you check in with Israeli Airlines aka El Al they ask you several questions and then you get your boarding pass. The guest services lady made a note on my passport and now I’m in the King David Lounge eating tuna fish, hummus and salad while making small talk with some gent beside me who is also working on something.

So I’m basically a day into travel and for whatever reason, never felt more relaxed. Seems like the more you travel the more you realize there is no rush for anything when you’re simply on time. I’m curious what types of meals we get on the flight to Tel Aviv, I’ve heard good things about Israeli Airlines but only time will tell, yes? Suffice to say this is a reminder that it’s no just about the destination, the trek there is definitely part of the trip so lay back and enjoy the ride.

Tips hat,

P.S: The last photo is of the Delta terminal in JFK, talk about tech!? Minneapolis should come take notes…
