Gare do Oriente, Lisbon, Portugal
Hello,
Above is a photo I took at night on my 83 hour train trip to Poland from Lagos, Portugal for a wedding. Wedding turned out to be one of the best nights of my trip. This is the Gare do Oriente aka Oriente Station in Lisbon, Portugal. This is a very picturesque train station. One must enjoy them as many in Europe are slightly dark, dank and depressing.
P.S: I wish my best of friends the best of anniversaries on this eve.

I read that and thought: “WHAT?! 83 hours train trip?! He’s insane!” Then, remembered I did a five days train trip across Canada without bed or shower. Round trip. Worth it so much!
For some reason, once you start going, you kinda get into the mode and travel passes fast. Did a 170+ hour no bed / shower afterward, that was intense.
170h, that’s pretty intense but yeah, you just gotta do it and after 1 day, you get used to it. Not washing my hair was the hardest part. Having long hair, it felt so heavy on my head hahaha. It was so disgusting.
Definitely start feeling grimy, good times once you get going though, going to Europe?
Me? Not this year, unfortunately
I’m “backpacking” Thailand next May to June though, I’m pretty excited! That’s why I can’t enter the contest
Europe is definitely (note: I really can’t write “definitely” right. Talk about a word to have trouble to write) in my plans, but probably do it later in the next year or so, maybe in 2 years if I can manage to do my rtw as planned. I’d like to do All Europe, you know, not just London, Spain and France. I’d like to discover Eastern Europe as well. Anyway, my comment is getting way too long, should stop there! Have a nice day/night!
ps: Updated my bucket list if you wanna check it out!
Nous avons vu cette gare l’an passé. Elle est de fait très impressionnante.
C’est vraiment belle.
Went there a few times in my travel, one of the nicer ones I have seen in Europe.
@Audrey, doing most of SE Asia first is a good idea. Europe will drain you and it’s cool but not as much of an experience as going to a totally different culture. It’s also ridiculously priced for how cool it is.
Best part was nightlife, not the sights, Asia cooler for that I believe. Good luck on your plans!
