Foreign Currency Exchange on Nicaraguan Streets
Everyone tells you that doing a foreign currency exchange on the streets is a bad idea, I know. Turns out in Nicaragua it’s legal and the gents on street corners with massive wads of cash are legit and licensed! First found out about this from a Nicaraguan gentleman on the plane who said he exclusively changes foreign currency on the streets as the banks are not to be trusted and will rob you blind.
As it happens, the street exchanger did have the best rate by a long shot and it was a seamless transaction.
Who would have thought!?

Well, I can really “hear” in your voice and see on your face how happy you are to be back on the road. Awesome! I’m loving the video clips too!
I leave in 37 hours and can’t wait! I’m finished packing, but not quite as lite as you — have to have enough for 2 years of working in a corporate in environment, but nothing more than clothes, three pictures (who needs analog photos when you have the internet in your hands?) and just a few other essentials. A couple of suitcases and a box which will go by DHL air. No one I know can believe me. This is my 4th corp. move to a foreign land and each time I pack lighter and lighter. It’s all just “stuff” so it’s just not necessary to schlep 99% of it around the world. Live and learn, right? I kept your around the world life and minimal packing in mind as I was sorting through things and thought, really? Do you need to take THAT before I threw it in a suitcase or box.
Happy travels!
@Fran Thanks Fran and excited that your next adventure is about to begin. A couple of suitcases and a box by DHL is by no means much if you’re going to be living somewhere. I find people over pack simply because they say “What if I am doing x” and need this or that. Reality is you never need it and nobody really notices the difference between the outfits people choose to bring.I’m down to 6.1KG for my main sack which is all the clothes, shoes, snorkel gear included. Have a really safe trip and keep me in the loop on your latest adventure.
I love the Spanish beats in the background!:)
Thanks, talk about great timing for filming a video. Makes me want to add music to future ones.
wow, i can’t believe that guy is carrying so much money around
I know, also sure there is an “enforcer” somewhere nearby in case anyone ever got the ridiculous idea to try something.
