Flying to New York City!

Greetings,

I’m writing this with a big smile on my face as tomorrow I’m flying to New York City for the first time. I know, I know, how can I have not been to New York City before!? It’s one of those destinations which I always knew I’d visit at some point so there was really no rush and it looks like the time has finally come. That said, I never thought I’d be flying there from Managua, Nicaragua but that’s travel for you!

I’m there to partake in an event being hosted by Visit Britain. The Countryside is GREAT Launch Event is all about showcasing the wonderful attractions to be found in Great Britain when you get outside the major cities and into the countryside. If you followed along on my trip through North Wales you’d remember I saw all sorts of extraordinary castles, sampled some delicious dishes and photographed some stunning scenery.

This is a great time to mention that if you’re free on January 21st aka this Wednesday, there will be a Twitter chat from 2-3Pm where all your questions about Great Britain can be answered; simply tune into the #unexpectedGB hashtag. Rachelle, Kirsten and I will be on the chat as well as countless others who are enthusiastic and knowledgable about the topic; do come join if you’re free as it will surely be a great time.

I’m very excited to be going to New York City and really plan on taking it easy while soaking in the scene as much as possible. There are countless attractions which could take weeks to see and instead of spending my limited free time racing around to take the 000,000,000th photo of a popular landmark, I’m going to take it easy and see what comes my way. That’s what I love about big cities, anything can happen anywhere and especially when you least expect it.

I plan on doing some shopping for items I’d like to have back on the Corn Islands and simply being part of the vibe for a bit. I’ve heard nothing but great things about New York City and realistically will probably return at some point in the future when the weather is warmer without other obligations. As a result,  I’ll be leaving the bucket list type items and major sightseeing excursions for then; it only makes sense, yes?

All I know is that I’m a big fan of visiting bustling world-class cities so I’m sure I’ll thoroughly enjoy my time in New York. I’d go on but it’s getting late for a gent who is flying out of Managua at 8am and arriving in New York City at 6pm. Ahh New York, glad to finally be going!

This reminds me, where did I put my winter jacket?!

Tips hat,

P.S: Don’t forget to tune into the Twitter chat, you’ll be glad you did.
