Flight from Big Corn Island to Managua

Greetings,

The photo above is from the air strip on Big Corn Island. It’s located about a 10 minute walk from the port and you can physically cross the airfield to get to the airport. How many other places in the world can you do that? Last time I saw that was in the Serengeti of Tanzania. If you don’t feel like walking you can do what I did, pay the guy $0.97 and just get a ride. It’s C$20 anywhere on the island, it’s that small.

I digress.

The planes run twice a day and fly out at like 7:15 or 3:40pm. The cost is $12o taxes in one way or $165 round trip. After taking the boat / bus / panga you realize that unless you’re 100% going back by boat, just get the return ticket as they work out to near the same.

Taking the boat / bus / whatever else deal is $70US round trip but you MAY get stuck in Bluefields etc. If you have the cash, throw out the $100 and get there in an hour instead of 2 days … #NOBRAINER

Managua Airport has free wifi and lots of plugs which is amazing, naturally.

Turns out the first gent I struck up a convo with is on the same 2AM flight to Fort Lauderdale, your next friend is always a random yet appropriate conversation away… Also if you have time to kill, the shoe shine guys do a bang up job, my New Balance shoes look new.

Regards,

P.S: SHABL Labs has two projects underway that will literally “blow your mind”.
